General Telecourse Orientation

Supplies/Equipment Needed for Telecourses:

1. Book and study guide purchased from the bookstore. |

2. VCR tape or DVD for your course (checked out at the library). |

3. VCR or DVD player. |
Library policies for Telecourse materials:
Students may check out videotapes or DVD's for their telecourse at the Randolph C. Watson Library on the main Kilgore College campus. See the Library portion of this orientation for general library information including hours. Below are the general library policies that telecourse students must follow.

Students MUST have a Kilgore College Student ID or a Library issued Library card to check out all materials. |

To check out the initial telecourse tape, students must present their Student ID or application materials for a library card. Application materials include a completed Patron Information Form, a current semester's registration receipt, and a driver's license or other photo ID. |

Telecourse tapes are due back on a 2-week schedule. You may renew once per tape in person at the circulation desk in the library. |
|
Only one tape per course may be checked out at a time. |
|
Late fees are $1 per day with a maximum fine of $25 per tape. Lost or damaged tapes are $10 with a $5 processing fee, plus the fine. |
General process for completing a Telecourse:
1. Complete orientation.
2. Purchase book and study guide from bookstore.
3. Check out telecourse video from KC Library. If you live in Kilgore, you may choose to watch the video programs on cable channel 29. The broadcast schedule is listed below.
4. Complete course work for unit (refer to course syllabus).
5. Make appointment for test.
6. Take test,
7. Return telecourse videotape to KC Library, if applicable.
7. Check out next telecourse videotape or watch on Kilgore Cable. Repeat process from step 4.
