bulletCan I access WebCT from any computer?  Do I need specific software?

WebCT can be accessed from any computer with internet access.  You do not need specific software, however, WebCT works better with Internet Explorer or Netscape.  Browsers such as AOL or MSN do not work well with WebCT.

I have used WebCT before, is my User ID the same each semester?

Beginning in the fall 2006 semester, we will use a different method for generating your WebCT ID than in previous semesters.  Your WebCT ID will be the same in semesters subsequent to fall 2006.

Your WebCT ID will now be the first four letters of your last name in lower case letters + the first four letters of your first name in lower case letters + the last four numbers of your student id.  For example: John Doe has a student id of 123456789.  His WebCT ID will be: doejohn6789

Your WebCT password will be the word "Student" with a capital "S" + the two-digit month and day you were born.  For example:  John Doe's birthday is June 9th.  His WebCT password will be:  Student0609

bullet

I have used WebCT before and I changed my password, is it the same each semester?

Each semester, for each class, you are loaded into WebCT and your password is reset.  Once you have logged in, you may change your password again.

Getting Started with WebCT

Do you already have an active WebCT account on the Kilgore College Server?  Beginning in Fall 2006, WebCT ID’s will be generated in a different manner.  See the table in Step 2 below.  If your existing account uses the new style of login, skip the following steps and simply log on to your account and all of your courses should appear on the MyWebCT main screen.  Contact your instructor immediately if this is not the case.
