Literature Resource Center - All inclusive database contains information on both classical and contemporary authors and their works. Obtain biographies of authors, bibliographies of all they have written, critical essays and contextual information. Also includes selected full-text, excepted, and commissioned critical material from Gale’s Literature Criticism and For Students Series. The titles in these series include: Children’s Literature Review, Classical and Medieval Literature Criticism, Drama Criticism, Drama for Students, Literature from 1400 to 1800, Nineteenth- Century Literature, Literature of Developing Nations for Students, Literature and Its Times, Novels for Students, Poetry Criticism, Poetry for Students, Shakespearean Criticism, Shakespeare for Students, Short Story Criticism, Short Stories for Students, and Twentieth- Century Literary Criticism.

Academic Search Premier - Provides full text for nearly 3,200 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer science, and ethnic studies.

WorldCat - Contains over 30 million catalog records and holdings information for material owned by libraries around the world, including books, journals, maps, sound recordings and other media.

Internet Sites

American Literature Sites (http://www.wsu.edu/~campbelld/amlit/sites.htm)– a website dedicated to helping anyone who wants to use the Internet to research American Literature. Provides links to online resources.

Biography (http://www.biography.com) searchable database containing 20,000 personalities.

Additional web sites are available through various search engines. Try Yahoo! or MetaCrawler to search by subject, title, or for individual poets.

Books and Journals

Books may be found using the library's online catalog. In the library, you can find books according to their classification number. Books that have "Ref." before the classification number in the Library of Congress and "R" before the classification number in Dewey Decimal number are reference books (First floor).

Dewey classification for short stories is: 800
Library of Congress Classification is in the area: PN, PR, PS and PZ

If you need help ask any of the librarians, technical staff or student assistant to assist you.

Online full-text journals are available. These journals are arranged by title.

Also, the library subscribes to periodicals in paper copy or microfiche. They are shelved or filed in alphabetical order according to title.

Contemporary Authors: Contains short biographical articles. The library has Contemporary Authors available on its database. (Ref. Z 1224 .C6)

Contemporary Literary Criticism: Contains excerpts from criticism of the works of today's novelists, poets, and playwrights. (Ref. PN 771.C59)

Concise Dictionary of British Literary Biography: Contains biographical information on British literary figures. (Ref. PR 19.C64 1991)

Critical Survey of Drama: Contains biography of writer, achievements of writer, and analysis of writings. (R 809.2 M194C)

Critical Survey of Short Fiction: Contains literature on authors and their short stories including biographical information and analysis of the stories. (R 803 M194cr)

Dictionary of Literary Biography: Has biographical Information on poets. The library has Dictionary of Literary Biography available on its database. (Ref. PS 221. D5)

Drama Criticism: Contains criticism of the most significant and widely studied dramatic works from all the world's literature. (Ref. PN 1601 D59)

Magill's Survey of American Literature; Presents 190 American writers from the seventeenth century to the late twentieth century. (Ref. PS21.M34 1991)

McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of World Drama: Contains information on dramatist and their works. (R 809.2 M147)

Nineteenth Century Literature Criticism: Contains essays on nineteenth century novelist, poets, playwrights, and short story writers. (Ref. PN 761. N56)
