Contemporary Literary Criticism collects more than 35,000 critical essays on contemporary authors, with biographical, critical, principal works, and further information. Dictionary of Literary Biography provides nearly 10,000 biographical and critical essays on the lives, works, and careers of influential literary figures from all eras and genres.

American Literature and Online Research - a website dedicated to helping anyone who wants to use the Internet to research American Literature. Provides links to online resources.

Biography - searchable database containing 20,000 personalities.

Shakespeare Online - in depth analysis, essays, plots synopses, source information, answers to common Shakespeare questions.

Additional web sites are available through various search engines. Try Yahoo! or MetaCrawler to search by subject, title, or for individual poets.

Books and Journals

Books may be found using the library's online catalog. In the library, you can find books according to their classification number.

If you need help ask any of the librarians, technical staff or student assistant to assist you.

There is a Shakespeare book section on the second floor of the library. It is in the PR section. Look for the banner and statute of Shakespeare.

Online full-text journals are available. These journals are arranged by title.

Also, the library subscribes to periodicals in paper copy or microfiche. They are shelved or filed in alphabetical order according to title.

Contemporary Authors: (Ref Z 1224. C58 ) Contains short biographical articles. The library has Contemporary Authors available on its database.

Contemporary Literary Criticism: (Ref PN 771.C59) Contains essays of critical information on literature. The library has Contemporary Literary Criticism available on its database.

Dictionary of Literary Biography: (Ref. PS221.D5) Contains biographical information about authors. The library has Dictionary of Literary Biography available on its database.

Magill's Survey of American Literature; (Ref. PS21.M34 1991) Presents 190 American writers from the seventeenth century to the late twentieth century.

McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of World Drama: (R 809.2 M147) Contains information on dramatist and their works.

Nineteenth Century Literary Criticism: (Ref PN 761.N56) Provides critical information about writers of the 1800's and their works.

Oxford Companion to American Literature: (R810.3 H325o) Covers American literature from earliest days to present.

Oxford Companion to Woman's Writing in the United States: (Ref RS 147.O94 1995) A dictionary type volume of information about women's writings and their authors.

Reference Guide to American Literature: (R 810.3 R332k2) Includes biographical information concerning American writers.

Includes excerpts from the criticism of William Shakespeare's plays and poetry from the first published appraisal to current evaluations.
