Note: all classes begin at 0800 unless otherwise indicated.
It is imperative that you pre-register for all classes you want to attend! Failure to do so can result in the class being canceled for low enrollment, failure of the instructor to bring enough materials for all students who arrive, or refusal to allow you to take the class in situations where enrollment is limited. PLEASE let us know you're planning to attend! Don't forget that you will need to know your TCLEOSE-assigned "PID" number in order to register for classes. If you don't know yours, please either look it up on TCLEDDS, call TCLEOSE and ask them (512-936-7700), or obtain it from your agency's training coordinator. Effective January, 2007 no agency or academy may submit training rosters to the Commission by using SSN as was done previously.

Scene photography (TCLEOSE 4011) CLICK ON THE LINK FOR A COURSE SYLLABUS This is an introductory 2 day (16 hour) course in crime scene and accident scene
photography. This course is generally applicable to both 35 mm and digital photography
but concentrates on digital photography.
A SLR or DSLR camera, a tripod, a remote shutter release, a detachable flash with sync cord (or wireless flash), a 50 mm lens, a wide angle lens, a telephoto lens (a combination wide angle & telephoto lens is acceptable), a lens hood, a polarizing filter and a UV filter are suggested (1 set-up per 3 persons at a minimum – attendees who are unable to provide the requested equipment should contact the instructor in advance for permission to attend the training). Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to: 1. Understand the basic principles of SLR photography 2. Effectively utilize the various camera settings for optimal results 3. Recognize the need for specialized techniques and be able to apply them 4. Properly compose crime scene and accident scene images 5. Document photographs taken according to accepted techniques |
