Agency administrators and training coordinators:
Please read the following notice from the TCLEOSE web page (the notice can be found here) regarding submission of fingerprint cards!
Submission of fingerprint cards for new applicants and license holders with over 180 day break in service has moved into the electronic age.
Agencies should now submit a police applicant fingerprint card directly to the Department of Public Safety. The card should be a TCLEOSE applicant card. The card will have the TCLEOSE ORI number (227011Y). Agencies will now place their ORI number in the space provided for the employer and address block. (See attached sample.)
The Department of Public Safety has agreed to provide information to TCLEOSE and the submitting agency. Agencies should keep, for their records, printed documents from the Department of Public Safety showing the returns from DPS and the FBI, as applicable. The original fingerprint card will be kept in the peace officer records file of the Department of Public Safety.
Cards that are smudged or otherwise unusable will be returned to the submitting agency by the Department of Public Safety for re-printing. The Department of Public Safety will advise the Commission if useable cards are not received in a reasonable time. A license shall be canceled should proper clearance not be received in a reasonable time.
Fingerprint cards will no longer be submitted to TCLEOSE with the L-1.
Address to send card to:
Department of Public Safety
Crime Records Division
PO Box 4143
Austin, TX 78765-9968
For information about ORI numbers call DPS Fingerprint Section: 512-424-2153
