Please note that ETPA does not participate in the WIA (Workers Investment Act) Program as it relates to payment for the Basic Peace Officer Course. ETPA does not accept payment from this program for entrance into the Basic Peace Officer Course.

Important Notice to ETCOG member agencies:
The ETCOG CJD grant for 2007-2008 only pays $800 of the $900 tuition for the Basic Peace Officer Course. Agencies are advised that the agency itself rather than the COG will be responsible for the $100 difference in tuition for those employees whose tuition would normally be 100% paid by the COG.

The Academy must maintain documentation of military service (DD-214, if applicable), proof of education, and certified documents reflecting that the applicant has never been on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order; not currently under indictment for any criminal offense; not been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years; never been convicted of any family violence offense; is not prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle or possessing firearms or ammunition; and proof of U.S. citizenship.
To comply with this TCLEOSE (i.e., state law) requirement, the following rules are in place for BPOC classes:
Students must provide proof of education. (Please see your sponsorship form for the educational requirements)
Students (where applicable) must provide copies of their DD-214.
Students must provide their notarized copy of TCLEOSE form A-1 . (ETPA will provide the student with the proper A-1 form to fill out when the application packet is mailed if the student chooses to receive forms via the USPS)
Students must provide proof of citizenship. (Students must bring a valid driver's license AND at least one of the following: Social Security identification card OR certified birth certificate)
All forms and required documentation must be turned in BEFORE the first day of class! Students who have not submitted all required documentation prior to the first day will not be permitted to enroll in the basic peace officer course.
Students or employing agencies are responsible for ALL costs for physical and psychological exams as well as the costs of the drug screen. Do NOT have the medical professional bill ETPA for these services!

The above-listed forms are required in addition to the ETPA Sponsorship Form and other paperwork! You may download and print our forms from here to avoid having to wait for ETPA to mail you a copy via USPS. You will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open these forms. Acrobat Reader is available for free from here.
Please mail or hand-deliver these to ETPA as soon as you have them finished. You will not be permitted to enroll without all of these forms.

BPOC Preparation Packet. The packet has directions for you on how to go through the process of preparing for the basic academy.
A checklist of all necessary paperwork is here. Please print it out and use it to verify that you have all of the paperwork you will need to enroll.
