Distance Education Online Orientation - Fall 2008


 

Online Orientation Instructions

To complete your orientation, you will complete at least 3 steps for your first distance learning course. 

If you are taking a course through the Virtual College of Texas, visit the VCT Orientation page.

 

Telecourses

Complete step 1, 2a and 3a below (for each course).

 

Web Courses

Complete step 1, 2b and 3b below (for each course).

 

Both Telecourses and Web Courses

Complete step 1, 2a, 2b, 3a (for each course) and 3b below (for each course).

Orientation Steps

Step 2b: Online/Web-based Students  (required for students in webcourses)

Step 3a: Telecourse List  (complete the appropriate section for each telecourse in which you are enrolled)

Step 3b: Webcourse List  (complete the appropriate section for each webcourse in which you are enrolled)

 

Important: 

You must complete the final step and email your instructor to complete your orientation.

 

If you are taking a web-based course utilizing the course management software, WebCT, it is recommended that you review the WebCT information page on this website for helpful information.

 

How do I know if I am taking a telecourse or an online / web-based course?

Courses with section numbers beginning with a "T" are telecourses and courses with section numbers beginning with a "W" are online / web-based courses.  Refer to your schedule (either printed or available online through CampusConnect) to find your section number.  For example:  HIST 1301.T1 is a telecourse and HIST 1301.W1 is an online / web-based course.
