Frequently Asked Questions

bullet

Do I have to come to the college campus?

After registering (which may not require a trip to our campus) and purchasing your books, the answer is depends upon the location at which you choose to attend class.  Remember, as a distance learning student, all of the student services available to traditional students are available to you also.  You may want to visit the campus to take advantage of some of these services.  You will attend class at the broadcast location most convenient to you.  The Kilgore College Attendance policy, published in the school catalog, also applies to Interactive Video courses.  Test sessions take place at your normal class site.  Remote sites are monitored by proctors, while the instructor is present at the primary broadcast or origination site.

What is the advantage of taking a course via Interactive Video?

Students have a choice of locations at which to attend class - currently either Kilgore or Longview and some area high school campuses.  Ask your high school counselor if your school has ITV capabilities.  Interactive video courses can reduce or eliminate travel time and the associated cost.

Where are the ITV rooms?
There are two ITV rooms in the Woodfin Center on the Kilgore campus as well as a room in Kilgore College-Longview and Kilgore College-Longview North.  Many service area high schools have ITV capability (Spring Hill, Pine Tree, Tatum, Carlisle, West Rusk and Hallsville).  High school students should check with their counselor for more information on courses.

Does it cost more?

No.  At this time Kilgore College does not charge any additional fees for distance learning courses.  The same tuition and fee schedule applies for distance learning courses as applies for traditional courses.
